About
Las Galeras
"Las
Galeras, located on the North Eastern coast of the Dominican Republic,
is one of those places that has managed to stay off the radar of
mass tourism and effortlessly provides that unique and ever-elusive
experience that is getting harder to harder to find."
The
numerous outrageously beautiful and sparsely populated beaches
are an obvious reason to visit Las Galeras. With at least eight
beaches in the area, each with its own charm, you are sure
to find a favorite.

In
Las Galeras you can still see, hear and smell the sights of
authentic Dominican life. You will find yourself just
as curious as the locals when the fishermen bring in their catch.
Perhaps you will pick the fish you want to eat and have it cooked
at the fish shack right on the beach.
The
clip clop of donkeys' hoofs means food is being transported from
the local farms to the shops in town and you might select a few
bananas from a reed basket woven by the farmer.

The
real treasures of Las Galeras are best explored at the slow
rhythm of nature and you will quickly find yourself enticed
by this pace.....so plan to stay awhile.
The culture of Las Galeras is still Dominican and it has not yet been sanitized into an homogeneous tourist beach resort - this is part of the charm of Las Galeras.
